The Mallacoota Bar

The entrance to the Mallacoota Inlet estuary is called The Bar, for the sandbars that form in the entranceway and which make navigation difficult and hazardous.

The entrance to the estuary moves up and down the beach in response to ocean currents, rain water flows in the catchment and winds. Behind The Bar, is a delightful cove called Devlins Inlet. Depending on the position of The Bar, this often provides a nice swimming beach.

Access to Devlins Inlet is via a stairway at the most southerly point of the Caravan Park, near the Shelter Shed.
