This group was formed toward the end of 1983. It's aim then was to ensure that the community was involved in decision-making as regards environmental and development issues. The Friends have participated in a number of important community projects including: protection of the Mallacoota Gum, the annual beach litter cleanup, Cleanup Australia, landscaping of the town centre, building the information shelter at the DNRE office, building the Gazebo in the town centre. They continue to evaluate & lobby on any environmental & conservation issue that concerns the well being of Mallacoota and surrounding districts. The Friends have published a several posters, a "Walking Track" brochure and two booklets - "Stepping Stones" - a guide to Mallacoota & the Wilderness Coast and "Animals of Croajingolong National Park" |
